Brief: Instinct was asked to provide a night of entertainment that was both family friendly and engaging. It had to include a large component of talent that could be performed acoustically, should there be difficulties with power as the result of inclement weather. Instinct delivered: The supply of multiple bands as well as providing a range of dancers, including world music, break dancers, hip hop groups and more. Bands that performed: Tumbarumba Funk Junk Hit Parade The party started at 8pm with Melbourne five piece Tumbarumba, whose sizzling fusion of Samba, reggae, funk and Brazilian beats have seen them share a stage with the likes of Paul Kelly, Claire Bowditch, Gotye and Blue King Brown. With roots in the street music of Brazil and the rhythms of an Australian Samba school, Tumbarumba set the scene for a night of funky beats which got the entire audience on their feet! The fun continued from 8:30pm when Funk Junk took over the stage with a high energy drumming set and drums were distributed to the crowd for a live jam session, before the family fireworks over the Yarra at 9:15pm. As the clock wound down, Hit Parade rocked the stage with everybody's favourite party tracks with everything from Michael Jackson and Robbie Williams, to Rihanna and Kings of Leon. At midnight, fireworks erupted from the rooftops at Federation Square, making it one of the best spots to enjoy the city's breathaking fireworks display. The entire program was broadcasted live on two big screens, with Federation Square offering one of the best views of the city's midnight fireworks. Numerous magicians, and other roving acts have also been supplied to these events |
